About Evilprofessor Designs...
Evilprofessor Designs is a new company starting out in 2007, however we have over 10 years of experience in writing websites and have been involved in many, many projects in that time!
Back when we first started designing websites a connection to the internet was a slow process connecting at speeds no quicker than a fax machine! The first pages were viewed using Mozilla which had only just started supporting images, most websites seen online currently would cease to work on that old browser. Things have now changed significantly (for the better), ignoring the additional coding now used the whole technique of writing web pages has changes significantly. These days we seperate content from design by using 'stylesheets' this means we can change the entire look of a site by editing just a single file. A great example of this can be seen at CSS Zen Garden.
As with most designers initial websites were static html type pages but slowly each project grew in complexity and the designs improved. Large static sites become unwieldy very quickly and so using programming knowledge gained on an undergraduate degree (MPhys Astrophysics) efforts were made to move into dynamic websites (where the content is generated from databases). The techology of choice for Evilprofessor Designs is PHP linked to a mySQL database. Both of these technologies are very powerful. It is also fair to say that they are responsible for a significant proportion of websites available on the internet and therefore they will not be disappearing overnight!
At Evilprofessor Designs we believe in keeping abreast of the latest web technologies and so recently much effort has been put into so called Web 2.0 technologies concentrating on AJAX. This is an exciting technology that is becoming more prevalent and is predicted to change the way that much of the content on the internet is delivered.
A blog is maintained at Evilprofessor.co.uk with posts about insights into new web technologies and simple examples (although the blog isn't dedicated to website design).

Evilprofessor Designs makes a huge effort to make sure all websites conform to web standards set out by the W3C. This not only ensures that your web pages look consistently good in the vast majority of browsers, but that they are compatable with future standards of web design, and still display clearly on older internet browsers.
Best technolgies
We make use of the best technologies to ensure that your site runs quickly and efficiently and displays the correct information for your customers. Evilprofessor Designs work primarily with PHP and mySQL but if you have a current site written in another language (e.g. ASP) we have experience in many other technologies. Currently we are training in AJAX and other so called Web 2.0 technologies. We are also familiar with several open source web solutions (such as Zen Cart, OSCommerce, Wordpress, etc) which means we can provide you with powerful websites with the minimum of cost and time.
